Hello! I’m Jules Anson, a surface pattern designer and illustrator living on the west coast of Scotland.
I create bright, bold and playful prints with the aim of bringing colour and fun to people’s homes. My work originates by hand – in pencil or paint, lino cut, monoprint, collage or machine stitch – and it is the energy and joy of making that I try to imbue in my work with mark making, texture and vibrant colours. With a fresh approach to trends, my designs are suitable for home décor, kitchenware, fabric and stationery.
Flowers in our communal walled garden and in the surrounding countryside are an endless source of inspiration for my designs, as are food (which I love to grow and cook), travel, architecture, typography and the work of artists and designers such as Matisse, Patrick Heron, Albert Irvin and Saul Bass. Seeing life through my daughter’s eyes and all the playing, den-building and sticking googly eyes on things will be at the heart of my designs for the children’s market.
I’m reliable, versatile and super-quick in producing design work, with an abundance of ideas. I am available for commissions, sales and licensing.
